Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Technique)

The Value of Actual “Hands-on” Time

A 60-minute session should mean 60 minutes of massage. To help provide this while keeping on schedule, we’ve set aside time before and after your timed session for Melissa to answer any questions that you might have, understand your goals, craft your session, listen to your feedback, and discuss a future treatment plan, if desired. It is her core belief that every client should feel safe and heard concerning their session and should be equipped with a basic understanding of what to expect before the session begins.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Technique)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle touch therapy intended to encourage the movement and natural drainage of lymphatic fluid. Whether your session goal includes addressing edema of a specific area or general detoxification, MLD has so much to offer the lymphatic system.

  • Improves the reabsorption and promotes drainage of fluid accumulated in the body
  • Increase in lymph production, the local sympathetic response, the general parasympathetic effect--(rest/digest/repair), and venous return
  • Removes waste products of cell metabolism
  • Decreases pressure to nerve tissue, promoting pain control and accelerated drainage of nociceptive substances from the tissues
  • Decreases tendency of fibrotic tissue formation due to reabsorption of protein from the interstitium
  • Stimulates lymphangiomotoricity

It has also been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of:

  • Edema
  • Traumatic Edema
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Migraine Headaches

***Please arrive at least ten minutes early to your appointment to allow time to discuss your session goals and answer any questions that you might have. This helps the therapist provide a more client-centered experience, including full actual “hands-on” time. It’s also a great excuse to have a cup of tea!
